The Novant Health Workplace Wellness award honors Rowan County companies that go above and beyond to promote health and wellness in the workplace.

Walser Technology Group’s wellness program was designed to motivate employees, encourage teamwork, and promote daily movement. Highlights of the program included:

  • Ensuring every team member had access to a smart device to track steps, with devices provided to those in need
  • Kicking off the challenge with a group yoga and meditation session at a local studio as a team-building experience
  • Distributing custom WTG Wellness t-shirts featuring the theme: Wellness – Teamwork – Growth
  • Awarding weekly cash prizes and recognition to the staff member with the most steps each week
  • Honoring the overall top stepper with a special prize at the company’s annual Christmas party

Over the course of the 15-week challenge, the Walser Technology Group team logged more than 6 million steps. The top three team members with the most steps were Zach, Dusty, and Kristina, who each received special recognition for their achievements.

In addition to the step challenge, Walser Technology Group supports everyday workplace wellness through:

  • Sitting/standing desk options
  • Ergonomic mice
  • Wireless headsets for flexibility and comfort

“We are honored to receive this award. Thank you, Novant, for recognizing the achievements of our employees in their wellness journeys. We embody our culture at Walser Technology Group and strive to make a lasting difference in our community,” said Brad Walser, CEO of Walser Technology Group.

Novant Health has presented this award for the past 10 years to encourage local businesses to implement workplace wellness programs. Previous winners include: Hitachi Metals, Rowan County Government, City of Salisbury, Healthy Rowan, Trinity Oaks, Food Lion, Health Care Management Consultants, Catawba College, and Power Curbers Companies.

“The traveling trophy is awarded at the Chamber’s Dragon Boat Festival to highlight workplace wellness initiatives,” said Chamber President Elaine Spalding. “Our goal is to inspire all employers to create wellness programs that support a healthy, engaged workforce.”

The Rowan Chamber commends Walser Technology Group for leading by example and creating a workplace culture that supports health, movement, and employee well-being.
